Mission and Goals
The Pedagogical Innovation Center, as a specialized service unit of P.PORTO, was created with the mission of stimulating, disseminating, and reinforcing innovative teaching and learning practices, empowering teachers for the ecological and digital transitions that today's world demands. The teaching and learning process implies a holistic view of knowledge and demands the development of a dynamic, continuous, and complex teaching professionalism that directly depends on processes of collaboration and critical reflection. The transitions induced by the pandemic and emergency context we are experiencing have resulted in a questioning of the campus where we operate, leading us to view pedagogical innovation as a central element of the Polytechnic of Porto, as a modern, active higher education institution capable of positioning itself as a national and international benchmark.
In this context, the Pedagogical Innovation Center (CIP) will seek in the coming academic years:
- Map pedagogical practices developed in the different organizational units of P.PORTO;
- Foster the reconfiguration of the teaching profession of Porto's teachers by focusing on pedagogical (re)training for hybrid contexts;
- Develop public discussion practices on the experimentation of innovative teaching and learning approaches and strategies;
- Promote the creation of pedagogical innovation projects, supporting their incubation and implementation; and create reflective, critical, and sustainable learning communities, taking into account the specialized nodes of knowledge.
